Join the ASSP’s GREATER DETROIT CHAPTER for a technical meeting on Poison Exposure Prevalence-Data. The presentation will be offered both in person and virtually. CEUs will be awarded! The GDC is looking forward to hosting members for our first technical meeting of the year. Please join us for light snacks, networking, and a thought-provoking presentation from Denise Kolakowski of the Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center.

PRESENTATION TOPIC: Poison Exposure Prevalence-Data
In this presentation, participants will be introduced to staff roles at the Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center and the poison center’s role in injury prevention and emergency response. A broad overview of poisonings and specific substances of concern will be highlighted. Data will be presented to help participants understand the impact of poisonings and relation to injuries in the workplace, home and other locations. The final component of this program will highlight best practices for poison prevention with the understanding of what toxins may be present in each environment where people work and live.
After attending this event, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the role of the Michigan Poison & Drug Information Center in poison exposure response.
- Have an increased awareness of potentially poisonous substances.
- Understand the prevalence and impact of poisoning exposures in the U.S. and the state of Michigan.
- Have a better understanding of best practices for poison prevention.
