MIOSHA, and the Greater Detroit Chapter, Mid-Michigan Chapter and Western Michigan Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) held a signing ceremony to renew cooperative alliances between the organizations. This occurred in conjunction with the Coffee with MIOSHA event held at the Great Lakes Training Center, held on August 23rd in Midland.

The GDC was represented by Chapter President Linda Zaziski. The participants intend to work together to raise awareness to safety matters through Outreach and Communication. 

MIOSHA Consultation Education and Training Division safety and health experts Jennifer Clark-Denson and Kristin Osterkamp join Safety Spectrum podcast host Sheila Ide to do a deep dive on MIOSHA’s free consultative services.

In this 30-minute episode, Jennifer and Kristin spell out how Michigan employers can invite MIOSHA into their workplace — without involving enforcement or receiving unwanted fines — to proactively review their safety and health programs, get onsite training, receive abatement assistance and much more.

The Oakland University EHS Mentoring Program is looking for mentors to help students with their professional development. The time commitment can be fairly minimal, as we only expect one meeting per month (although, you and your mentee can meet more frequently if you prefer!). As a mentor, we would like to see you help your mentee with things like resume review, mock interviews, networking, job shadowing/site visits (if allowed), career coaching/counseling…and anything else that you think will help them land their dream job in safety!
